State Department Issuing New Passport Card
The U.S. State Department has begun issuing U.S. Passport Cards. The Passport Card was developed as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative to serve as a less costly alternative to the traditional Passport Book. The Passport Card is an acceptable form of identification for entry into the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and most Caribbean locations at land and sea ports of entry only and is not valid for air travel. For travelers ages 16 years and up, the cost of the Passport Card is $45, and for travelers under age 16, the cost is $35.
